Faculty Senate Minutes

April 24, 2006 (Second Session, Approved)

The Second Session of the Faculty Senate meeting was called to order by Chair Moore at 6:41 pm in the William Strickland Conference Room in I.G. Greer on Monday, April 24, 2006.

Chair Moore opened the floor for nominations for Faculty Senate Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary.  During the first session of the April 24, 2006 Faculty Senate meeting, Senator Malloy nominated Senator Marking for Chair; Senator McCaughey nominated Senator Arnold for Vice Chair; and Senator Marking nominated Senator Harris for Secretary.  There being no other nominees, Chair Moore closed the nominations.  Senator Huelsman moved and Senator Mamlin seconded the motion to approve the nominations as presented:

Chair                    Senator Martha Marking

Vice Chair          Senator Chip Arnold

Secretary            Senator Tim Harris

Motion passed.  (See Vote #1). 

Newly-elected Chair Marking proceeded over the remainder of the meeting.

Senator Harris moved and Senator Ehnenn seconded to rescind Motion FS 05-06/03-02 regarding proposed amendments to the Faculty Constitution be put to a vote at the 2006 Fall Faculty meeting.  Motion failed.  (See Vote #2).

Senator Marland moved and Senator Ehnenn seconded to postpone presenting Motion FS 05-06/03-02 until January 2007, after the Fall 2006 Faculty meeting had convened, in order to allow ample time to review the entirety of the motion.  Motion passed.  (See Vote #3).

Chair Marking asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Motion passed.  (See vote #4).   The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 pm.
