The Committee essentially consisted of Mike Moore as chair, Gayle Weitz, and Chip Arnold. Its main business for the year was to keep track of negotiations and changes to chapter 3 made by various administrators and with the Office of the President. It's second concern was to review every other chapter of the Handbook to bring them into conformity with present practices. In both cases the Committee kept the Senate informed and solicited its opinions.
The Committee believes a new Faculty Handbook will be available to all faculty by July 1st, soon after its various revisions are addressed by the Board of Trustees at their June 2002 meeting.
Issues still outstanding are the composition of this Committee (whether
it should include the Provost or his designatee), grievance procedures,
and DPC and search committee policies.
